An iPhone dim in sun is a frequently asked question. Usually, the iPhone function is too different from the Android operating system. That is why many of us need clarification on some of the features of iPhones that operate differently. As an iPhone user, I have often observed my mobile dimmed in the sunlight. In some other phones, we have to manually adjust the display’s brightness, but the iPhone does so automatically. So today’s topic is the iPhone dim in sun.

Why does the iPhone dim in sun?

As I mentioned, the iPhone dim in sun is quite common, even though some users do not know the exact reason for the dimming. Your iPhone becomes dull once the screen brightness is increased. The Auto-Brightness feature on iPhones causes frequent lowering. This feature automatically adjusts your iPhone screen’s brightness to match the ambient lighting. In other words, depending on ambient light or brightness, the display screen’s brightness may vary throughout the day and at night.

The best part of this feature is that Auto-Brightness protects your eyes by making a minimal impact from the exterior light.

For example, Auto-Brightness will make your iPhone’s display as bright as possible so you can see what’s going on the screen when you’re out and about at a beach or aground. However, when it is darker at night, Auto-Brightness will make your iPhone display darker so your eyes aren’t blinded by what you’re looking at on the screen.

How to fix iPhone dim in sun – Step 01

You can quickly turn off the Auto-Brightness feature if your iPhone continues to dim and you want it to prevent it.

  1. Open Settings
  2. Tap Accessibility
  3. Then go to Display & Text Size
  4. Select turn off the switch next to Auto-Brightness

Leaving Auto-brightness on has the added benefit of automatically adjusting the light to the location’s brightness. Users of iPhones must manually adjust the brightness if Auto-Brightness is disabled, albeit this won’t always be necessary. For the convenience of usage, it is likely to maintain a higher degree of brightness throughout the day. Unfortunately, it has been reported that disabling Auto-Brightness can impact your iPhone’s battery life. If you keep your iPhone on maximum brightness all day, the battery will discharge faster than if you had left it on minimum brightness.

The iPhone dims in the daylight for various reasons, not just Auto-Brightness. You may have activated the night shift setting on your iPhone, which warms up the display and makes it simpler to sleep at night after using your iPhone. By doing the following, Night Shift can be disabled. If you have planned Night Shift on your iPhone, it will activate automatically at the specified time. The button next to Scheduled can be turned off to stop Night Shift from starting up automatically at specific times of the day.

  1. Access Settings
  2. Select Display & Brightness.
  3. If the switch next to Manually Enable Until Tomorrow is turned on, Night Shift is activated.
  4.  Tap the switch to turn Night Shift off.

You can also verify that True Tone is on to resolve the iPhone’s dull issue in sunlight. If so, the iPhone will adjust the display’s color to the ambient lighting. Such color calibration may give the impression that the display on your iPhone is becoming dimmer.

  1. Open Settings and select Display & Brightness to resolve this issue.
  2. Make sure the switch is turned off next to True Tone.

Here you can turn off the low-power mode. Low Power Mode changes several iPhone settings to extend battery life. A feature of Low Power Mode is a decrease in screen brightness. Ensure the switch next to Low Power Mode is off under Settings -> Battery.

Turn Off Reduce White Point

Reduce White Point lessens the brightness of vivid colors seen on the screen. Your screen gets darker when Reduce White Point is enabled.

  1. Click Settings, then Accessibility.
  2. Select Display & Text Size.
  3. Next, navigate to Reduce White Point and confirm the switch is turned on.
  4. To stop Reduce White Point from working, tap the switch if it’s on.

The Always On Display is a new iPhone 14 Pro and 14 Pro Max feature. This function dims the Lock Screen on your iPhone while keeping select widgets and time widgets visible.

The Always On Display is a perpetually on, darker version of the Lock Screen. Your iPhone 14 Pro or Pro Max may fade continuously while transitioning to Always on Display.

Open Settings and tap Display & Brightness to disable Always On Display. Then turn off the switch next to Always On by scrolling down.

What to do My iPhone keeps getting dimmed?

Even after Auto-Brightness, Night Shift, and Low Power Mode have been disabled, your iPhone may still become dim. Your iPhone may be dimming because of a hardware issue or software issue.

  1. Launch Your iPhone
  2. Refresh your iPhone

Your iPhone’s dim display has been fixed and now appears normal. The following time your iPhone dims, you’ll know exactly what to do.
